Hi, I’m Crystal Alma, and I’m so glad you’re here. I’m a photographer, visual storyteller, and writer currently living in Minnesota. At the heart of it, I’m a lover of details. I’m a seeker of quiet beauty, of stories in light & shadow, of patina, expression, and atmosphere. Endlessly inspired by nature & nuance, my work aims to convey stories of people, places, and ideas through an imaginative and evocative lens.
My style and approach: I have always been drawn to the visual arts and studied architecture early in college, where I became acquainted with the technical side of visual concepts and light theory. This interest and education has had a profound and lasting impact on my work and how I view the world around me. My attention is forever drawn to details and moments, often bringing me pause. My goal is to invoke this feeling in others through thoughtful, photographic expression. It is easy to get "lost” in visual expression, in examining the many ways a single image can be understood and interpreted. This intrigues me, and my goal is to invoke similar inquisitive thought in my own work. I have found that through years of experimenting and honing my own visual style, what speaks to me most are natural, light-driven, and uncomplicated images. I seek to bring an organic aesthetic and sense of clarity to my work, without heavy filters or post-editing, resulting in a natural cohesion that feels relatable, calming, straight-forward, and authentic.
